upstateinteractive: about us

Why we started UI

We started Upstate Interactive because we couldn't find any great web design shops in the Greater Binghamton area. We've been doing web work for clients all over the globe for nearly four years now. However, we figured it's time to bring the world of the web into the local market and vise versa. Southern Tier businesses have sorely lacked in the web department and we want to fix that! We're here to help.

In an industry often outsourced to outfits that are out of the region or out of the country, we believe local businesses deserve a quality local resource to develop a presence on the web.

Not in Upstate New York? No Problem! UI is not exclusive to the upstate region. We have helped a number of clients from all over the world create high-profile websites and we can do the same for you!

Who we are

Shaun Andrews, Owner, Upstate Interactive

Upstate Interactive is the brainchild of Shaun Andrews, an experienced web designer and developer. Shaun started his career in Miami, Florida working as a web editor for Alienware Corp. (now owned by Dell). At Alienware, Shaun moved up the ranks quickly, overseeing the company's EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) web group, responsible for all updates across nearly 30 countries worldwide.

After a successful run at Alienware, Shaun moved on to a smaller team with a less-corporate atmosphere at Propeller Branding where he, along with two other web designers, created some of Miami's best websites, including the website for the internationally acclaimed Miami Performing Arts Center (MPAC).

After working in both large corporations and small agencies, Shaun decided he could do things better on his own. He began freelancing for various companies in the South Florida area and landed projects for Dreamworks and Hewlett-Packard as well as smaller, local companies.

In 2006, Shaun moved back to his hometown, Binghamton, New York to continue to pursue his freelance work. In 2007, after becoming fed up with the lack of quality local websites, Shaun formed Upstate Interactive with the mission of improving the local web experience.

Wait, you keep saying "we"

Upstate Interactive currently has four regular, local contractors who we trust:

You'll most likely run into one of them in the duration of your projects, they're great!
